Do you regularly participate in beach cleanups? Whether it’s a huge organized cleanup in your community, or just a walk down the beach by yourself – YOU can help us collect valuable data!
E-cigarette waste, especially Juuls – are a rapidly growing craze as a substitute to cigarettes, and there are growing concerns about the use of these products by teens.
Also of concern is the effect that these products can have on our oceans. Products such as Juul are powered by re-fillable nicotine cartidges, which like cigarette butts, are being littered on our coastlines.
Here’s what they look like:
The scale of littering, the potential impacts of leaked chemicals from the cartidges, and the fate of these plastics remain unknown. Which is why TerraMar has begun a series of data collection through our #NoMoreButts campaign – designed at answering these questions.
YOU can help us today by filling out this online data form after your beach cleanup, and emailing your responses to [email protected]
Your information will help us identify the scale/distribution of e-cigarette waste on our coastlines, and will help our efforts to prevent this at its source.
And while your at it, recycle any plastic cigarette butts through our #NoMoreButts campaign!
